The Free Tier Promise

We want to say something plainly, and we want it on record.

If it's core to your success, it's free. If it's convenient to your experience, it's paid.

That's it. That's the whole philosophy. Everything below is just spelling it out.

What's Always Free

These features are free because they are the point. They're what actually moves someone toward better health. Gating them behind a paywall would make us the kind of app we built Baisics to replace.

Macro tracking and calorie awareness. Seeing what you eat is step one. It was always going to be free.

Workout logging. You did the work. The least we can do is let you record it.

Nutrition search and food logging. Find what you ate, log it, move on. No upgrade prompts between you and a bowl of rice.

Streak tracking. Your streak measures whether you showed up—not whether you performed perfectly. A vibe check counts the same as a full food log. A 20-minute home workout counts the same as an hour at the gym. The streak is yours. It stays free.

Vibe checks and self-reporting. Sometimes you don't want to log food. You just want to check in. "Sleep was bad, stress was high, I ate okay." That's a healthful choice. It counts, and it's free.

Progress visibility. You can't course-correct what you can't see. Your data, your trends, your trajectory—visible, always.

Staples. Your go-to foods, saved for fast logging. Because nobody wants to search for "oatmeal" for the 47th time.

What's Paid

Paid features make things faster, smarter, or more detailed. They're genuinely useful. But you don't need them to get healthier. That's the line.

  • AI-powered features. Smart suggestions, deeper insights, pattern recognition. The AI does in seconds what you could do in minutes with your own data. It's a time-saver, not a gatekeeper.
  • Advanced analytics and trends. Longer time horizons, cross-variable analysis, the kind of charts that make data nerds happy. Useful. Not essential.
  • Time-saving conveniences. Bulk operations, data export, shortcuts for power users. If you're logging every day, these make your life easier. If you're just getting started, you won't miss them.
  • Premium integrations. Connections to other services and platforms. Nice to have. Not required.

The Commitments

This is the part we really want on record.

We will never gate the things that actually matter. Tracking your food, logging your workouts, seeing your progress—these are health outcomes, not premium features. They stay free. Period.

We will never use dark patterns to push upgrades. No countdown timers. No "limited time offers." No guilt-driven copy about what you're missing. If you upgrade, it's because you wanted to, not because we wore you down.

We will never make you close the same upsell modal twice. If you say no, we hear you. The answer is respected. Gone. Not "maybe tomorrow they'll change their mind."

We will never force a trial you didn't ask for. No surprise charges. No "your free trial is ending!" emails for a trial you never started. If you want to try paid features, you'll opt in with full knowledge of what happens next.

We will never make the free experience feel broken on purpose. Some apps cripple the free tier so the upgrade feels like relief. We think that's gross. The free tier is a real product. It works. It's complete for what it does.

The Real Test

Here's how we hold ourselves accountable:

If you never pay us a dollar, you should still be closer to your health goals after six months.

Not "aware of our premium features." Not "familiar with our upgrade flow." Closer to your health goals. That's the bar. If free users aren't getting healthier, we've failed—regardless of what our revenue looks like.

Why We're Saying This Out Loud

Because promises buried in FAQ pages aren't promises. They're footnotes.

We built Baisics because we were tired of apps that exploit instead of serve. Apps where the free tier is a demo designed to frustrate you into paying. Apps that track your macros behind a $15/month wall like they invented arithmetic.

Your body is counting your calories whether you track them or not. Your muscles are growing whether you log the workout or not. All we do is close the gap between reality and what you can see. That shouldn't cost money.

The convenience of doing it faster, smarter, with less friction? That can cost money. We think that's a fair trade.

This page is our commitment. Not a marketing angle. Not a pricing strategy. A promise.

We'll keep it.
